How To Style Your Halloween Costume Into Your Everyday Wardrobe

Halloween costumes are a lot like wedding dresses. A bold statement to make I know, but hear me out. You spend months leading up to the day trying to choose the perfect outfit and make a Pinterest board to collect all your ideas together. Then you have to locate the exact replica of your favourite from your board, spend a ton of money on it, just to only wear it for one day. It's not worth it! Here is how you can wear your Halloween costume through the year and make it worth the money.

I have to admit, I am probably cheating with this 'How To' as my costume this year was already part of Cher Horowitz's everyday wardrobe. However, I think the same principles apply, plus the fabric used was too expensive for this to now go into hiding in the back of my wardrobe. The main two elements of my costume that I want to be able to style into a new look are the skirt and jacket as these were the pieces I handmade, and the t-shirt and cardigan are items I owned, so I already know I will wear them again.

To begin with, I have paired the tartan skirt with a turtle-neck, ribbed t-shirt from H&M which works really well as the different tones of grey make the yellow and white checks pop even more. I have further styled the look with thigh high boots from New Look, as they tie the outfit together whilst making it quite glamorous and less school girl-esque.

As I previously mentioned, I added the embellishment on the back of the jacket to bring the jacket into the modern day, as denim jackets adorned with pins and patches are currently very on trend. Therefore, I chose to style it with a pair of black skinny jeans from TU and a graphic tee from the online brand, Shein.

Due to the tartan pattern of the jacket, it made it quite hard to pair it with a lot of clothes in my wardrobe as I love patterns and colour which would just clash with this particular design. Therefore, I wouldn't be able to say truthfully that I have managed to style into my EVERYDAY wardrobe, but I think it works really well with the looks I pulled together. The pieces make an outfit definitely more interesting, especially the jacket, and could be used to finish an otherwise dull look.

In true blogger fashion, never wear your jacket actually with your arms in like it's intended purpose; always resting your shoulders! Also, who knows where my other hand went in this photo?!
